Edmond, Oklahoma, 30 Years Later

On a business trip in Oklahoma City last week, I had a chance to visit some landmarks from my childhood in Edmond, where we lived for a bit less than 2 years in the late 70s. It was my first time back. I hope you enjoy the pictures (you know who you are)!

This is the house that was rebuilt on the lot where our old house stood, #224. Our house burned down sometime after we moved away.

View of Easy Street approaching our old house on the right.

View of Easy Street in the other direction, our old house would be behind you on the left.

Neighborhood pool where I had my 6th birthday. I remember jumping off the diving board. The pool seemed much bigger then. It is small, barely bigger than a backyard pool really.

Sunset Elementary, where I attended Kindergarden and First Grade.

Playset that I remember surprisingly well. How many kids have played on this old thing in 30+ years?

Cool playset that I don't remember.

Four square and the playground (I love this picture).

On the way to the Oklahoma City Boat Club, this is the first view of Lake Hefner approaching from the highway.

Dock views.

Clubhouse.

New York City!

Last weekend we visited Barbara and Douglas in New York, after way too long apart! Cyrus and Eliza did great, even with 3 hour flight delays in both directions. Here they are at RDU at the beginning of our little adventure. Eliza decided to start walking over the weekend in our hotel room. Now that we're back home, she's getting lots more practice and loving it.

Times Square photo ops.

On Friday afternoon, we took the subway to Union Square and hit the playground before walking over to meet Aunt Barb and Uncle Dougie.
